New Pet Parents & My Pets

Bringing home a new family member is one of the most exciting times I can imagine, however some pet parents decide to adopt or purchase a new puppy or kitten without fully realizing the commitment and needs their new furry son or daughter has. See the Puppy/Kitten Checklists and the Costs of Pet Ownership posts for more detailed information and explanations.

Below are pictures of my boys, their personalities, and my experience being their pet mommy.

Dash:

Dash is 11 months old and was adopted with his brother Jack-Jack from Purrfect Friends in December of 2011. He's shy, but loving and playful when he's used to your presence. Typically not a lap cat, though. He'll make you follow him around so he can roll onto his belly for a good scratching and loves any toy with feathers. Unfortunately, he lets his brother beat up on him, but don't let that fool you, he's quite the strong and talented little boy. I'm impressed by his jumping skills and those ab muscles... and just how loving he can be. He loves cheesesticks for treats and watching birds in the window.

Jack-Jack:

Jack-Jack is also 11 months old and was adopted with Dash in December of 2011 from Purrfect Friends. He's my little love monster and loves curling up in your lap or on anything soft, especially his fleece kitty blanket that sits in the window sill. He is very much a lap kitty and loves any toy that rattles or crinkles. We even taught him to fetch with little mice! Like I said, he and Dash like to wrestle and with his heavier girth, he can really pin Dash down, but we're working on getting him slimmed down. He definitely loves his Blue Buffalo and the lazer pointer!

 Lucifer:

Lucifer was found in the parking lot of a bank at 4 weeks old and is now 3 months old. He and his brother Gabe were a little worse for wear when we found them, but they settled right into our home as fosters, and are now very happy at their forever home. He still visits all the time and plays with Jack-Jack and Dash, and he has all the spunk in the world. He's not very good at sharing though, and usually growls and lets his claws out without warning. But that's not to say he won't curl up in your lap for a good nap. Any toys are Lulu's favorite and he loves any food that gets within his reach.

Gabriel:

Gabriel is about as sweet as a teddy bear and looks like one too. Like Lucifer, he was found in the parking lot of a bank at 4 weeks old and ended up in our home as a foster. He fit right in and is now very happy at his forever home, but visits often to play with the bigger kitties. He's known to chase his own tail or the tails of other kitties and will curl up in any clothing or on any one that happens to be around. He's not known to get his claws out, but he sure can bite and bounces off the walls until someone will play with him. His favorite toy is his tail and he loves all the milk he can get!
